A FRESH APPROACH TO ADULT LEARNING

By OAE Staff
In the dynamic world of adult education, fostering connections and personalized guidance is crucial for learners' success. One innovative approach is our long-standing program "Coffee & Career Conversations," which is a relaxed, yet focused, way to engage adult learners in meaningful community & career discussions.

What is Coffee & Career Conversations:

Imagine sitting down with our Adult learners in one of our classrooms, chatting about education and career goals, challenges, and opportunities within your business or organization. These are informal, small group sessions designed to help adult learners reflect on their career paths, explore new possibilities, and strategize their next steps.

Why it works:
1. Personalized Guidance: These conversations allow for tailored advice based on individual needs and aspirations.
2. Building Trust: The relaxed atmosphere uplifts our community, making learners feel heard and supported.
3. Skill Development: Discussions often touch on transferable skills like time management and professional communication, and technical skills like measurement and analysis.

Next steps:
Join us in the classroom by contacting Lydia at 507-444-7921 or lyahnke@isd761.org. Or, invite us out for an on-site tour! We'd love to bring our students out into the community to see various roles and responsibilities in action.
The Coffee & Career Conversations program is more than just chats over a half hour-they're a gateway to growing our workforce. For adult learners, this approach transforms career planning into an engaging and meaningful experience, one conversation at a time.
